It was a sequel 21 years in the making. Hip hop mogul Master P stars in “I Got the Hook Up 2,” which opens in movie theaters today. The musician turned actor is disrupting the film industry with this release. Master P tells Yahoo Finance’s Jen Rogers how he and his son financed the movie, and why they hired influencers and actors who know how to harness the power of social media.
The comedy-crime caper tells the story of best friends Black and Blue, who get mixed up in a dangerous scheme to save their restaurant. Cast members Master P, Romeo Miller, Fatboy SSE, Genius Minds, and UMC are scheduled to attend Monday’s screening.
“The film is being screened in association with the City of Newark. With many of the cast including Fatboy SSE hailing from Newark and surrounding cities, Master P and Romeo Miller felt it was important to partner with the City of Newark to bring this film to the city before it opens in theaters nationwide,” the city said in a statement.
