Denzel Washington is stepping behind the camera for his next project, which will include one of Hollywood’s finest.

According to Variety, Michael B. Jordan of “Black Panther” and “Creed II” is in talks to star in Sony’s “Journal for Jordan,” a drama based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Canedy’s novel of the same name.

The film, which Washington will direct, will be written by “Mudbound” screenwriter Virgil Williams. It’s based on the true story of Canedy’s love affair with 1st Sgt. Charles Monroe King, who was killed in 2006 in Iraq when his son, Jordan, was just 7 months old. But King left behind a journal in which he wrote important life lessons for their newborn son, with “his spirit living on in his messages of love to Dana and Jordan.”
