Jay Z and Will Smith are reportedly producing an HBO miniseries about the 1955 murder of Emmett Till.
According to Deadline, the series will be based on the book, “Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked The World And Propelled The Civil Rights Movement,” by Devery Anderson.
The series will examine the brutal murder of Till, who was 14 years old when he was killed for allegedly flirting with a white woman in Mississippi in 1955. The shocking murder helped to fan the flames of the emerging Civil Rights movement at the time.
In addition to Jay Z and Will Smith, Casey Affleck and Aaron Kaplan are reportedly on board to produce, with The Land’s Steven Caple Jr. set to write for the miniseries.
