Dr. Dre has given back to his hometown of Compton, with a donation of $10 million to Compton High School.
The legendary producer donated to the local high school to help build a performing arts center, which will include a 1,200 theater. It is expected to open in 2020.
Dre says he hopes the center will help young people be creative in a way further their education.
“My goal is to provide kids with the kind of tools and learning they deserve,” Dre said in a statement. “The performing arts center will be a place for young people to be creative in a way that will help further their education and positively define their future.”
Additionally, the hip-hop mogul will help raise additional funds to complete the project.
Dre and his partner Jimmy Iovine previously donated $70 million to the University of Southern California (USC) to create the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation in 2013.
