Born in Philadelphia Vivian Green was raised in a home where Motown classics were always blaring. At fifteen she began to record at multi-platinum group Boyz II Men’s studio & soon she received her first professional songwriting credit co-writing the song “Dear God” on their platinum selling album “Evolution”.
Determined to be a recording artist, Green continued to record relentlessly. Her mature, sultry voice and knowledge of material allowed her to sing in some of Philadelphia’s premiere jazz clubs despite her age.
At 19 Vivian received a recording deal with Sony Music & released her debut album A Love Story in 2002. This contained her first #1 smash hit “Emotional Roller Coaster”. The Album was Certified Gold by RIAA.
Her second album “Vivian” released in 2005 , produced her second #1 hit “Gotta Go Gotta Leave”.
In 2004 she gave birth to her son Jordan who was born with an undiagnosed syndrome. Between 2005 and 2010, Jordan’s multiple surgeries and health issues demanded her to take a hiatus from releasing albums, but her strength and resilience always pushed her to continue doing what she loves. “Being Jordan’s mom is my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way”, says Green.
In 2007, Green appeared on Guru’s album Jazzmatazz, Vol. 4: The Hip-Hop Jazz Messenger: Back to the Future on the track “Fine and Free”. In 2009, she signed with E1 Music with the first album titled Beautiful was released April 6, 2010.
In 2015 Vivian signed with Producer/Artist Kwamè’s label Make Noise Recordings/Capitol Records.The first release was “Vivid” Written & Produced by Vivian & Kwamè. This garnered her biggest hit in 10 years with “Get Right Back To My Baby”. The single reached #2 on the R&B Charts & got Vivian Nominated for a Soul Train Award. Also released was “Grown Folks Music (Work)’ which was a Top 15 Urban Ac hit.
Vivian & Kwamè has teamed up again for her new single ‘I Don’t Know” & is releasing her 6th Album VGVI” due September 15th.
Vivian is also is an advocate for children with special needs and is pushing her #IamDifferentIamHuman PSA Campaign.
