Music’s Biggest Night, the 2017 Grammy Awards, will be a few stars short this year… as they plan on skipping the ceremony.
According to reports, both Justin Bieber and Kanye West are considering missing the Grammys this year, as well as Frank Ocean and Drake.
Ocean has publicly said he will sit out this year’s event, due to his album Blonde not being nominated, despite being named one of the best albums of 2016.
According to TMZ, Bieber and Kanye aren’t exactly protesting the Grammys, but plan on missing it, because they don’t feel it is representative of the best new music. West also previously said he wouldn’t attend the Grammys if Ocean’s Blonde wasn’t nominated. “As artists, we’ve got to come together to fight the bullsh*t,” he said.
As for Drake, scheduling conflicts seem to be his reason, because he’ll be in Manchester, England for a performance, despite having eight nominations.
Apparently, Ocean didn’t submit his Ocean album for award consideration, out of protest against The Recording Academy for failing to properly award young, black artists, calling this his “Colin Kaepernick moment.”
